Artist Ninni Baeckstrom teaches mosaic to children and adults in studio 22 at the McGuffey Art Center. Beginning and intermediate students are welcome.

The goal of my classes is to share my love for mosaics, the materials and the all the creative possibilities they hold. It is important that each participant has an opportunity to discover their own voice, to develop a way of working with the materials and to feel supported in their own process.

Students will learn how to bring a project from design to completion. A variety of materials will be introduced, and participants will learn how to cut and lay the tesserae. Different substrates, adhesives and tools will be introduced and how to finish and exhibit a completed project.

Each participant will work on their own project and deal with issues specific to their work. The advantage of working in a group is the support and inspiration we can give each other, as well as the fun of sharing ideas and materials.

Please call Ninni at (434) 882-1589 or e-mail her at to find out more about her current schedule.
